The Multiplier Event of the Students as Digital Civic Engagers Project, took place in Leitrim on June 15th 2022. It was a great day of learning and engagement, with the attendees gaining a greater understanding of the project.
Grace Roche, Head of EU projects at Momentum gave a deeper introduction to the SDCE project and the insights she gained from working on the project. Via a powerpoint presentation, Grace introduced the results of the projects. Grace also facilitated a Q&A session which led to a very comprehensive tour of the SDCE website www.studentcivicengagers.eu
Students as Digital Civic Engagers is an exciting project that examines the best practices and benefits behind student civic engagement throughout the EU. Civic Engagement is any individual or group activity addressing issues of public concern.
There are four main outputs of the Students as Digital Civic Engagers Project:
- Guide to Civic Engagement is a comprehensive publication which explains the relevance of Digital Civic Engagement, how it relates to both pillars of teaching and academic outcomes, and how it can be taught effectively in Higher Education.
- Digital Civic Engagement Toolkit will provide practical guidance and tools for HEI educators and lecturers, who want to incorporate Digital Civic Engagement activities into their curricula/teaching strategies, with a particular focus on increasing their confidence in using digital tools.
- Digital Civic Engagement Syllabus and OERs will include a syllabus, learning objectives, lesson plans, assessment guides, and access to a variety of original teaching content and pedagogies (experimental learning, problem-based learning, service learning).
- Digital Civic Engagement MOOC will provide students & staff with an additional space in which to develop their digital civic engagement skills in a user-friendly format, as well as to explore follow on projects with their peers.
