Our Story

For 20 years Momentum has been educating and innovating in Ireland and throughout Europe.   Starting from a desk in the corner of our accountant’s office in Carrick-on-Shannon in 2003 (thank you Fiona), we started out as a business development consultancy and marketing practice, immersed in feasibility studies, strategic planning, funding securement and upskilling programmes. Our work with public bodies and communities sought to increase investment in infrastructure, but most especially in opportunities for people and communities.  There have been many challenges – disadvantage of our regions, recession and lack of investment,  but many of these projects have left a lasting legacy and continue to make us really proud.

Momentum is now better known for its work on a European level. We create impact via EU education and innovation programmes by developing innovative curricula and tertiary educational strategies for many of Ireland’s top HEI and VET bodies (National University Maynooth, Atlantic Technological University, Technical University of the Shannon, Local Enterprise Offices). We work with over 50 leading HEI and VET education partners including UIIN, ACEEU, eucen, FH Münster University of Applied Sciences, University of Bologna, Tallinn University and University of Malaga to name a few.

New for 2023, we are proud to provide high impact dissemination and evaluation services to  several Horizon Europe projects. This is a wonderful recognition of the calibre of our work. Underpinning all our work, we seek to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

Bolting a Butterfly
"It was like bolting a butterfly to a bullet.."

“A recent trip to Kennedy Space Station, Florida unearthed the most perfect quote to describe our team. I could not be prouder of the team we have brought together and the work we do. And in many ways, it feels as if we have only just started..”

Social Responsibility

Social Responsibility is part of our core ethos. Over the years, we have contributed (staff time, knowledge, and funds) to support a wide range of causes, charities, and community initiatives such as The Simon Community which helps homeless people, Flourish community mental health centre in Sligo, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and several grassroots Community Development groups. More recently our social responsibility efforts have supported the Ukrainian Hub “Palyanytsya” in Carrick on Shannon and Rapid Response Ukraine, Sligo.

Momentum has a strong commitment to social responsibility. Our colleagues regularly unite to raise funds for charities and support important initiatives.

We are proud to nurture and sustain our local communities. Through donations and employee volunteering efforts, we support many amazing charities and local development groups.
