Momentum is proud to play a key role in promoting and sharing the valuable work of the EU-funded Social Impact Manager (SIM) project. SIM is empowering European companies to take on a more innovative approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by creating social impact through building links and meaningful engagement with local communities to address societal challenges.
At Momentum, we are always on the lookout for initiatives that make a difference in the community. One inspiring example comes from Nordson Medical, based in the town of Boyle, Co. Roscommon. As a global expert in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex medical devices and component technologies, Nordson Medical recently demonstrated its commitment to community social impact through a hands-on initiative.
On June 28th, the Nordson Boyle workforce divided into teams to help two local community organisations, the Boyle Family Resource Centre and the Boyle Brothers of Charity. They spent the day gardening, painting, landscaping, and helping to renovate the facilities. The Nordson team were proud of the work they accomplished and found the day to be very rewarding.
Louise Moran, Manager of the Boyle Family Resource Centre expressed her gratitude for the volunteers’ efforts, “We were thrilled to have staff from Nordson Medical volunteer their time with us. They revitalised our back garden, making it usable again, and prepared one of our walls for a mural. Additionally, they took on various tasks around the town with over 140 staff making a difference in our community; cleaning, weeding, painting, sweeping and many other jobs that needed doing. A fantastic initiative by a wonderful employer in our beautiful Boyle.”
Momentum highly recommends that companies consider volunteering time with local causes. Leading by example, the Momentum team recently spent a summer team-building day at Hillside Holistic Farm in Roscommon, an organic farm that facilitates social farming initiatives with vulnerable groups.
