Introducing the VETCompass Project

On January 16th and 17th, the kick-off meeting for the VETCompass: VET Teachers’ Transversal Skills Competence Assessment System took place in Brussels at the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB) headquarters.

Our project stems from a commitment to elevate the quality and attractiveness of VET through a strategic approach. Our first objective is to meticulously identify the indispensable transversal skills demanded of VET teachers, trainers, and staff. We then embark on the assessment of European VET teachers’ transversal skills, ensuring that our efforts align with the contemporary imperatives of the VET education landscape.

The partners were able to explore the project in more detail, and reflect on transversal skills in the context of Vocational Training as essential skills that add to and go beyond specific technical or vocational knowledge.

The objectives of the project are to:

  • Develop a specialized Transversal Skills Assessment Framework for VET teachers, trainers, and staff.
  • Compile a comprehensive document highlighting areas for enhancement and modification within the framework.
  • Foster a collaborative environment among project partners to collectively develop and refine the identified areas.
  • Contribute to the continuous professional development of VET teachers, trainers, and staff by providing an updated and robust Transversal Skills Assessment Framework.

Thanks to our project partners: European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB), BK CON, AKMI International, Innoved, ST Skills Together, Momentum Educate + Innovate and I&F.
