Project Description

Better Futures – Enabling Young Refugee Entrepreneurs aims to facilitate the empowerment of young refugees and asylum seekers, to achieve economic independence and further their social integration by becoming successful entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurship education and subsequent business creation has enormous potential as a route to social integration and financial autonomy for young refugees and asylum seekers. It provides direct opportunities for self-employment as well as engagement in the community that creates value for all. As our economy and society undergo transformation, these opportunities are important for all young people but they are especially important for refugees and asylum seekers who are most likely to suffer discrimination, leading to social and labour exclusion.

To effect this change, the Better Futures project will develop:

  • a practical resource to guide organisations in the adaption of their learning spaces and training content so as to enable the full participation and development of young refugees.
  • a Rapid Assessment Tool which is an easy to use digital resource enabling trainers to assess each young person’s aptitudes and skills in suit and to identify next in entrepreneurship support
  • a set of teaching resources, a learning framework and set of integrated OER’S which are aligned with the 21 Entrecomp competences – this will facilitate the roll out of a a specialised refugee entrepreneurship course across Europe

We at momentum are delighted to be involved in this project and recognise the value of entrepreneurship as a integration tool. A previous project ENTER which we were involved in explored this theme and we look forward to delving into it again on Better Futures.
