The ENDO project seeks to empower women living with endometriosis by giving them tools to better express their experiences, access clear information, and engage more confidently with healthcare systems. Its overarching goal is to bridge the gap between patients, carers, artists, and medical professionals, creating new forms of dialogue, understanding, and support. The main resources generated will include the Endometriosis Academy with its residencies, training programmes and mediation tools; a multilingual Emotional Dictionary developed through narrative medicine; and a digital app designed to translate complex medical reports into clear and accessible lay language.
Work Package 2 – Endometriosis Academy: ENDOs & Artists
This WP builds an “Endometriosis Academy,” where artists collaborate with ENDOs and carers through residencies, performances, and exhibitions. It develops training and mediation tools, combining art and historical research to highlight endometriosis in women’s history. Outputs include multilingual resources and a skills guide, empowering cultural-health professionals and patients.
Work Package 3 – Tell the Story: Narrative Medicine
WP3 uses narrative medicine to help ENDOs and carers express their lived experiences through stories, diaries, and metaphors. These narratives are analysed to create a multilingual Emotional Dictionary that improves doctor-patient communication. The process strengthens therapeutic alliances, reduces diagnostic delays, and empowers women to actively shape their healthcare journeys.
Work Package 4 – Digital Lay Language for Empowerment
This WP creates a mobile app that translates complex medical reports into accessible lay language for ENDOs. Co-designed in Living Labs across France, Italy, and Ireland, the tool integrates multilingual lexicons of key medical terms. By improving health literacy and autonomy, the app enables women to better understand and manage their condition.
