What we love about The Food Hub? It is Ireland’s Premier artisan multi tenant food production enterprise centre! We love that the Hub pays tribute to Drumshanbo’s rich food heritage and is fuelled by ambition and innovation.
Momentum has worked with The Food Hub, Drumshanbo www.thefoodhub.com from concept stage in 2003 and continues to guide the project through exciting development phases. It is a unique economic development asset, a multi-tenant 26,000 sq. ft Production Facility. widely cited as a best practice example of a community led food production enterprise and education hub. There are currently 75 jobs on site across 8 food and beverage companies with 5 of those businesses now exporting. Across 12 different funding applications, Momentum raised €1.8 million to develop the facility. In late 2016, through Leitrim County Council, Momentum secured funding of €200,000 under the Rural Economic Development Zones (REDZ) Programme 2016 (Medium Scale Project) for developing a Taste Leitrim visitor experience at the Hub. This funding is facilitating the investigation to acquire and develop an empty food factory premises, in Drumshanbo as a potential second food incubator site of 15,000 sq. ft as part of an overall Food Enterprise Zone project to the area.

In 2013, drinks industry veteran Pat Rigney chose The Food Hub to establish a premium distillery. The Shed Distillery is the first distillery in Connacht for over 106 years and the first multi-purpose distillery of its kind in Ireland marking a return to traditional distillation using medieval copper stills. In 2020, The Shed invested €3.5 million in a boutique visitors centre to the right-hand side of The Food Hub building which offers a very interactive, unique, authentic and informative visitor experience, conservatively forecast to attract 30,000 visitors by year 5.
