The COMM UNITY Project Transnational partner meeting was held recently in Ireland. We were delighted to host the first day of the meeting at our office in Leitrim Village. The project team reviewed the progress of the project so far and discussed plans for the future. The overall objective of COMM UNITY is to empower community radio organisations & volunteers to become an influential pillar of adult education in civic engagement of diverse & vulnerable groups.
The second day of the meeting was spent in Roscommon, hosted by our friends at Roscommon Leader Partnership. The team visited RosFM and Our Voice FM – these are two wonderul community radio stations run by volunteers. They are a wonderful example of the power of community radio in giving people of opportunity of sharing their stories.
The team were also joined by members of Athlone Community Radio who came to learn about the project and help us to expand and increase awareness.
The COMM UNITY Radio training programs are doing their part to promote a more inclusive and equitable society. The project responds to the needs identified by diverse communities and is made up of talented individuals who work to bring listeners great music, good news stories as well as bringing individuals and communities together.
