The ACORN Project hosts Roscommon’s First Rural Youth Assembly

Roscommon’s first-ever youth assembly took place in Kilbride Community Centre on September 17th, 2024. Momentum was delighted to be there alongside our good friends and ACORN Project partners Roscommon Leader Partnership.

Over 70 people attended the event including local councillors, community members, and stakeholders: Jigsaw – The National Centre for Youth Mental Health, Healthy Ireland, Local Government and Roscommon County Council.

We were also delighted to see the TY students from Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown. We enjoyed meaningful discussions and listened to their issues about living in rural Ireland.

Laurence from Momentum gave a presentation about the ACORN (Activating Young Rural Development) project. This project will create a new set of resources, including a transferable mechanism for youth inclusive rural development in Europe.

We also had an opportunity to tell the attendees about the Experiential Entrepreneurship Labs (EELs) project. The overall aim of EELs is to increase the sense of initiative and entrepreneurial competences of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, so that they can better achieve their goals in the labour market and as active citizens. https://entrepreneurshiplabs.eu/

We received great feedback from the students about both projects, and we value their insights and opinions. Thank you to all who attended this wonderful event, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
