About the Project

The Repower Regions project is helping regions across Europe upskill their workforce to deliver clean, efficient heating and cooling by reducing emissions, boosting innovation, and supporting the energy transition. With a focus on decarbonisation, digital skills, and sustainable solutions, our initiative aligns with the European Green Deal and the REPowerEU Plan, addressing urgent climate and energy challenges.

Project Description

The Erasmus+ Alliance for Innovation funded initiative will enhance the capacity of educational institutions in higher education (HE), vocational (VET) and continuous vocational educational training (CVET) to provide updated and relevant training in sustainable heating and cooling systems. Over three years, our partnership will supply educators with the latest industry knowledge and insights and revised curricula and teaching methods. We will develop an educational course and materials for current and future workers in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and construction sectors so they are well-prepared with the necessary green and digital skills. This addresses the immediate skills gap and contributes to the broader goal of supporting Europe’s transition to a more sustainable and energy-independent future.

Led by Kildare County Council, the consortium brings together twelve partners from ten European countries. The impact of Repower Regions will be felt by education and training providers in universities and in vocational training as well as heating, ventilation and HVAC and construction professionals who will benefit from the training on how to adapt their skills and prioritise replacing fossil fuel energy sources with low or zero-carbon alternatives like wind, solar, and hydroelectric power in their work. Companies working on heating, cooling, and construction will gain a more skilled workforce, enabling them to undertake new projects while staying competitive in the evolving market.

Beyond workforce development, Repower Regions plays a crucial role in reducing Europe’s reliance on imported fossil fuels. By strengthening energy sovereignty, it enhances national security, builds economic resilience, and supports Europe’s mission to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. With the urgent need for skilled professionals in sustainable heating and cooling, Repower Regions is actively engaging stakeholders across Europe. Whether you are an educator, policymaker, or industry professional, this project offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of Europe’s clean energy transformation.
